"MyInformit" at http://www.informit.com/Login?request_uri=/My/Accounts provides plenty of full-length computer books for free for online viewing. There are several on HTML. Perhaps this might be a good recommendation for a beginner who wouldn't want to spend $20 on a fat book most of which wouldn't be used.
