Maybe navigation that follows your mouse pointer around would be useful, not to mention fun to watch! Has anyone seen such a thing?

Navigation that follows your cursor would be a bit dizzying, I think. If you try navigation that follows your window, you end up with the much-hated Geocities "g", or sites like this.
