What are the chances of xml-rpc becomming the standard for webapp to webapp exchange and communication?

For instance, imagine if blogger supported xml-rpc or say octopus.com allowed incoming feeds to be xml-rpc... Or say I created a document in some kind of "web word" and wanted to transfer it to a "web calendar" for sharing.

Wonder what the equivalent of COM will be for web apps...
