Missing SN back issues before Dec 1999

I went looking through back issues of SN to look up an article and it seems they're missing or the links are broken before Dec 1999. The last thing I tried was to go back month-by-month and clicking on Nov from <http://scriptingnews.userland.com/backIssues/1999/12/31> gives the error:

Sorry! There was an error: Can't process the request because there is no object named "1999".
