FWIW, my suggestion would be: set up the distribution server so that any email in response permanently unsubscribes the responder; the message would then be forwarded to the bit bucket.

If people want to respond, let them do it on the DG, or whereever else you prefer it be done.

Obviously, put a nice notice on the email, so that everyone would be forewarned...
