Dave asks: They can sue Napster out of existence, but how are they going to get the MP3s off the users' hard disks? By appealing to their honesty? I doubt it.

I'm not saying this will work -- in fact I believe its a dead-in-the-water idea -- but the current thinking seems to be that new content will be protected by DRM systems. The Forrester guy has it right IMHO when he says DRM can at best provide zero value to users and at worst negative value, and thus will fail in the marketplace.

C'mon. Thinking about how the current big music business is going to rescue their dodo shit is a waste of time, like a circle jerk. They're dead, gone, and this thing is ripe for the picking. Who cares about the dinosaurs.
