Here's an idea no one's tried: what if we could use something like Paypal to "click here to send $.25 to the artist." That way those of us who want to support the artist can do it, without shelling out $18 that mostly goes to a record company, for a CD we don't need.

This appeals to me. Just started using Napster. All they have to do is stick such a feature as a piece of functionality under their Library tab and I'd be doing it.
