CNET has announced it's plans to acquire Ziff-Davis for nearly $1.6 Billion. The story also includes a quote from Masayoshi Son, president of Softbank, who will join CNET's board.

It's only a matter of time before Salon gets swooped up, like Wired News before it. What's the current thought on the consolidation of technical news?
