I don't know their motivations, I'd be the first to say that I was thrown for a loop on it, totally caught off guard. O'Reilly produces excellent books and has a first-rate rep. It's hard to reconcile that with all the irrelevant crap that's been loaded on this discussion. It's really simple as far as I'm concerned. I wrote an essay on this, I don't see anyone taking this into account here. Weird.http://davenet.userland.com/2000/09/02/whatToDoAboutRss
I was really careful to label my assumptions. They go out of their way, Tim did it right here, to say I had nothing to do with RSS. Well, that's not true. Do you care about that? Do you see why I do?
Read the piece, then comment. When it went out a lot of people said it must have been hard to write. It was.
