That's the amazing thing, outside the US, the country is seen as very powerful, but inside the US, the individual citizens feel powerless. Many of my fellow citizens feel their vote is meaningless, the choices they're "given" are both bad, but they don't read the rulebook, the Constitution, to see that they have the power to change things if they want to.

I remember when the Iran hostage crisis was happening during the Carter administration, the leaders of Iran said they despised the American government but had no problem with the American people. I wanted to tell them that it's one and the same. We are the government here. Not the people we elect to represent us. That's the lesson of this year's events, IMHO.
