Most likely - it's interesting (and good) that they're making them available in Carbon. I've been wondering how much would be shared.

strings: NSString collections: NSArray, NSSet, NSDictionary user prefs: NSUserDefaults, which is like the MS Registry, but different. property lists: supported by NSString and the collections plug-ins, application and shared library packages: NSBundle

XML handling is new.

It's a good sign that they're putting XML at the Foundation level, rather than higher up in a GUI framework, or stuck in the WebObjects framework.
