As is so often the case under unix, none of the methods are 'more' right. It's a matter of taste. And this is the major hurdle to make everyday desktop users switch to Linux.

In the short term, Linux has no hope of capturing ordinary desktop users. But a nice GUI makes life easy for server admins, and renders one of NT's more powerful sales tools less effective.

(In the long run, I think Linux will do fairly well across the globe. There's a lot of people out there who need to buy computers, and countries other than the US hate to be spending so much hard currency on software from abroad.)
