About question 1:You're kidding, right?
Office Web Server is not open. It's MS's way to catch up with Lotus Notes.
I've had opporunity to play with it some- If it was open, customers using Internet Explorer for Mac could participate. Doesn't work on IE for Mac (unless you can figure out a way to do COM on a Mac...)
