I picked up "XML, Extensible Markup Language" by Elliotte Rusty Harold, IDG Books, ISBN 0-7645-3199-9, and it seems to cover the subject of XML and XSL pretty well. You don't really get the idea that there's anything other than XSL to format your XML with (read the tutorial that comes with the xmltr suite for comments on XSL), but it seems a good introduction.
