This sounds like an ideal open-source opportunity. Let's assume for the moment that Netscape will finally manage to get version 5 out the door. There are plenty of open-source editors out there. Why couldn't somebody just plug one into the browser? Then instead of trying to lobby Microsoft to do something that may be against their short-term commercial interest, you can force them to catch up.
