hmh...i don't understand. from my viewpoint, it seems to be absolutely about linking and nothing more. sure, you can't borrow content without attribution. ticketmaster's first complaint (against sidewalk) specifically concerned linking and its current one is partly about linking. i think we'd all agree that if tickets.com is stealing ticketmaster content, then that should end and there should be reparations. but the real sticky point is linking as additionally shown my the infoworld policy. many of the lawyers i have seen quoted seem to support ticketmaster's position concerning linking which i think is very scary. it is important that momentum build now to demonstrate that this is ridiculous because if we wait for that one single judgemenet to go the other way (as jim proposes), it would cast a pall over the web as many web site owners are compelled to remove deep links to avoid costly legal battles.

i believe the universal issue is somewhat different and more akin to framing someone else's content or embedding someone else's image in you page even though you refer to the image's address by its owner's url.
