Your sticky note analogy falls short in a serious way... your sticky note has a distribution of one person. Distribution and potential damage to the value of the content figures big in copyright law. Third Voice has a distribution of thousands/millions... much more potential for damage and much larger distribution.

Stick that note in every copy of the magazine, and now you're closer to what Third Voice does. And that would get you in trouble in the real world.
