(XML-RPC calls would be cool, too...)

There's the DICT protocol, which while it ain't XML-RPC, is trivial enough that a guy could write a client for it in Frontier. Check out http://www.dict.org/ for more information. There are three different perl clients out there.

Oh, and www.dict.org also has (multiple) dictionaries online. One-stop shopping.
