I would be willing to bet that they don't have grouping and alignment in the editor.they have that in the toolkit (this is how things are usually done on unix platforms). see http://glade.pn.org/features.html for some more info.
fwiw, the layout editor in pythonworks automagically hides such toolkit features under a drawing program paradigm. and yes, it runs on Linux ;-)
