Open/Closed Source Software

In the long run, through the powers of evolutionary competition, high quality software will win and low quality software will lose. IMO, there is no inherent relation between "open/closed" and "quality".What is certainly true, however, is that open source software allows many more people to build value by reusing prefabricated components at virtually no additional cost.
In the long run, all commodity software will be available with source and a free-use policy.
