"supportsIndexing" and First DG

My second problem today:

I'm getting errors when posting to my local DG. "[Macro error: Can't evaluate the expression because the name \"supportsIndexing" hasn't been defined.]" I went digging, and found a reference to "supportsIndexing" in mainresponder.search.client.isPageSearchable. It seems that isPageSearchable() wants to see a user.databases entry for the DG(?) with "supportsIndexing" set to true. I added a user.databases entry for discuss.root, and added the boolean. No dice. What am I doing wrong?

I did check out André Radke's How to get your first discussion group started. And I'm still as stumped as before.
