Hmm, how do I choose? What are the choices? I assume I look at "standard" interfaces like desktops, or tree-views, etc. etc.

That's ok, but there are also radically cooler, new interfaces like these:

(note these all need Flash - which sorta shows you what kinds of radicality we will see when SVG takes off)
