Umm, then why might lotus notes save an attachment as a non executable file. I don't know notes so I don't know what happens with most attachements.

But the best place for protection from email viruses is in the email program. Don't save executables by default, and not without difficulty in big type (people don't read the little dialog boxes).

and the best place to protect against unsigned executables is in the OS. Run them in the sandbox.

And if MS wrote a paper, it would read like the articles on the issues of the old paper byte talking about, java, tcl and sandboxing aps from the internet. (and MS would call the sandbox something else, and call it an innovation)
