Place this in a text file:

==START PERL SCRIPT== #!/usr/bin/perl

print "Hello World\n";

==END PERL SCRIPT==

Then execute on the command line as

perl whatever_you_saved_your_file_as

If you want to directly execute the script on the command line, you need to set the file as executable.

chmod x your_script_name

Then you can execute your program on the command line as

./your_script_name
