Take a look at ATL 3.0 (shipped in VC++ 6.0). The CAxWindow class makes it almost trivial to embed a web browser control and has much less overhead than MFC. If you don't want to get involved with ATL directly, you might investigate calling AtlAxWinInit() and then using the window class "AxWin" with CreateWindow.
