Breaking news...

NSI has finally agreed to hammer out a deal where they would open up the domain name registration system to outside competition. Before today, NSI had resisted the authority of ICANN and refused outside access to its database. Today, the company agreed to reverse its position on both fronts.

MSNBC is the only one with coverage of this at the moment, as is Reuters. The original story can be found at the URL listed below:

The Commerce Secretary, William Daley, will be having a press conference later today. I imagine that's when others will jump on the story.
