I haven't tried the kid-oriented stuff, but the other iTools are pretty conventional.

The mail service is nice in that you access it via a standard POP3 client which means no ads. (In fact you have to access it via POP3.) Most of the other free mail services charge for POP3 access because they want you to get the ads.

The disk space is done via AppleShare over TCP/IP, so it integrates nicely with the Mac OS.

The one thing that's worrisome is that iTools installs a browser plugin to allow pushing a button on an iTools web page to do something like mount an AppleShare server.

BTW, Dave mentioned that he couldn't register on Apple's site because he was not using a Mac. It turns out that even a Mac user has to upgrade to Mac OS 9 in order to register.
